Vitamin K For Healthy Bones and Arteries

Vitamin K is a multi-functional nutrient.  Vitamin K is found in
green leafy vegetables like spinach and used by the liver for
blood coagulation within 10 hours.

There is vitamin K1 and K2, they circulate throughout the body
over a 24 hour period.  They are synthesized in the gut by
micobiota.  The role of K2 is in the arteries and it is the major
contributor to bone rebuilding.

Dietary awareness of Vitamin K has focused on anti-clotting
since warfarin was approved.  There is other important
nutritional value to this fat soluble vitamin.

Vitamin K2 is found in animal sources, and is rapidly depleted
without proper intake.  Without it, the body does not use
calcium and Vitamin D3 to activate osteoblasts to rebuild
bone.  The most common source of this vitamin is egg yolk,
beef and liver.

Celiacs need to be sure that their diets include ample red
meats, eggs, fermented cheeses, yogurt or else dietary
supplementation is recommended.  Without proper diet
bones can become soft tissues and arteries calcify.
