So Why Is A Gluten Free Diet Important?

So you are told you have Celiac, you are put on a gluten free diet.  The question to some is why, why if I have no symptoms must I follow a strict gluten free diet.  Over the past few years, the gluten free diet has received world wide attention.
People with any sensitivity follow it, stars think its healthier, and many have jumped on the gluten free wagon.  However, it is only recommended for those with Celiac or gluten sensitivity.

Gluten is the substance that makes the bread chewy, it is the only completely indigestible food protein.  For people who are diagnosed with Celiac disease, gluten in their body will not only irritate the lining of the small intestine it will also make the immune system attack the intestinal villa.

When this villa is destroyed, the body can no longer absorb enough nutrients from food, leading to deficiencies. This is where a gluten free diet helps.  Gluten harms people with Celiac regardless if they have symptoms after ingesting it or not.
There are no pills to take, no cure for Celiac, that leaves the only treatment diet. A strict gluten free diet is important for long term health.
