With the super ball coming this weekend one of my favorite and healthy snacks is popcorn. You can enjoy popcorn while watching TV, just try to skip the added butter, opt for air popped to make it a guilt free snack. Popcorn is a good source of fiber making it a filling snack, which you can eat without worrying about calories.
Add some dry roasted nuts to make a homemade take of Cracker Jacks. Popcorn has about 35 calories per air popped cup. Nutritional value is mainly its large amount of fiber, some Vitamin B, antioxidants (polyphenols), manganese, and magnesium content.
Popcorn has one of the highest levels of polyphenols of any plant food. Polyphenols are a type of chemical found in plant foods that help neutralize free radicals, they cause damage to your cells and contribute to rapid aging.
Popcorn looks to be one of the healthiest snacks. Try popping yourself, not use fattening microwave bags. The key to keeping it healthy is in the preparation. So pop some tonight and this weekend, and enjoy your healthy snack.
