The food I will write about today is the baked, or jacked potato. This is a very common and popular food. It is naturally gluten free and when cooked has a fluffy inside with crisp skin.
A medium baked potato is about 160 calories with 4 grams of fiber, protein and less than .01 gram of fat.
Potatoes contain antioxidants including vitamin C, carotenoids, and anthocyanins. Potatoes are a good source of vitamin B6, which is a nutrient that plays a role in carbohydrate and protein metabolism. They are also high in potassium, and magnesium, with no fat.
Potatoes are also delicious, a plain taste that you can add hundreds of flavors too. You can bake them just add salt and butter, or add low fat cheese and salsa. There are many ways to eat them.
Just remember the potato's skin contains approximately half the fiber, and the majority of nutrients.
There are many types of potatoes all with the similar healthy benefits. So try the different types like , sweet, red, russet, yellow, whites, fingerlings, and petites to name a few. Potatoes have basically no fat, sodium, cholesterol and are gluten free.
So go and enjoy one today!!
