Happy Monday to all. Today the super fruit is the yummy red strawberry. At the store yesterday I was so happy to see these berries, they were large, sweet and looked so delicious. They are a super fruit for sure, I will go over why.
First some nutritional information, they are about 50 calories per cup of halved strawberries, with 3 grams of fiber. Many fruits are valuable sources of antioxidants, but researchers have recently ranked the 50 highest foods and found strawberries to be ranked 27th. They contain vitamin C, manganese, fiber, iodine, folate, copper, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, biotin, omega 3, and vitamin B6. That's an impressive list.
Some health benefits of strawberries.
1. One recent area was blood sugar benefits. Several recent studies have found regular intake of strawberries to be associated with decreased risk of type 2 diabetes.
2. Anti cancer benefits. With their antioxidant properties, strawberries would definitely be expected to have cancer risk lowering properties.
3. Cardiovascular benefits. Among all fruits profiled strawberries come out as the best fruit source of vitamin C, and manganese. Because of its key role as a cofactor for antioxidant enzyme activity, manganese is considered to be a key antioxidant.
Fragrantly sweet strawberries are the most popular type of berry fruit in the world. Although available all year round, their peak season is April through July when they are most delicious and most abundant.
