Day 7 Of 7 Super Fruits

There are so many super fruits, in my eyes all fruits are super in their own ways.  Today I will touch
upon the rare but healthy dragon fruit.  I will do this hoping someone will go out and try one as I did.

Some facts about the dragon fruit.
1. The taste has been described as being bland, like a melon or kiwi with a mild sweetness.

2. In Taiwan, diabetics use this fruit as a food substitute for rice and as a source of fiber.

3. Dragon fruit contains the antioxidant phyto albumins, they help prevent the formation of cancer
cells.

4. The seeds of the dragon fruit are high in polyunsaturated fatty acid.  This can help reduce triglyceride and lower the risk of cardiovascular disorder.

5. It contains the B vitamins.  The dragon fruit contains B1 for better carbohydrate metabolism, B2 for recovery and improvement of appetite, and B3 for reducing bad cholesterol and helping with skin.

6. It contains about 9 grams of calcium.  Calcium is essential in bone formation, repair and helps prevent osteoporosis as you age.

7. It provides you with 50% of your daily vitamin C requirement.  Vitamin C is an important antioxidant.

So as you can see there are many reasons for you to go out and try one today.  They are also low in calories, about 60 calories per cup and made up of mostly water.  So the next time your out shopping take a look for these and give them a try.
