Day 2 Of 3 Gluten Free Flours

Today I will go over some of the different types of gluten free flour and
their uses.  Be sure to check the labels of any flours to make sure
they say gluten free.
Different types of gluten free flours
1.  Amaranth Flour- This is a protein rich flour from the seeds of the
amaranth plant.

2.  Arrowroot Flour- A white flour from the root of the West  Indian
plant.  This can be exchanged in equal quantities for cornstarch.

3.  Buckwheat Flour- Yes even with wheat in its name, it is gluten
free and works best used with another flour.  It has a distinct taste,
so it is suggested to blend with other flours.

4.  Bean Flours- Typically higher in protein, they too have a
distinct taste.  They are best used for bread type recipes.

5.  Coconut Flour-  This is from dried coconut meat.  This flour
is low in carbohydrates and high in fiber.  It is perfect for baked
goods, with its yummy flavor.

6. Corn Flour- This is made from corn, and is too coarse for cakes,
works best for cornbread, and tortillas.

7.  Millet Flour-  This flour contains a lot of nutrients, and can
be used for baked goods.  It works well with muffins and
breads.
