Who Should Get Screened For Celiac?

Celiac disease is a life long autoimmune
disorder that affects multiple parts of your
body.  It can lead to other serious illnesses
whether or not you follow a gluten free diet.

So who should get screened for Celiac disease?
1. Children older than 3 and adults experiencing
symptoms of the disease.

2.  First degree relatives of people with Celiac
disease.  Parents, siblings and children have a
1 in 10 risk compared to 1 in 100 in the
general population.

3.  Any person with an associated autoimmune
disease or other condition, especially type 1
diabetes, thyroid, autoimmune liver disease,
down syndrome, and IgA deficiency.
