Day 1 of 2 Facts About Gluten

The great gluten free debate has been around
for years, and shows no signs of easing up.

Some claim our digestive systems aren't
equipped to handle gluten.  Gluten is a protein
found in wheat, rye and barley.  It adds the
chewiness to breads and muffins, and used
as a binding agent in many foods.

Many claim to feel better when not eating
bread and pasta.  Many complain of bloating,
fatigue, and stomach pain after ingesting
gluten.  Many experts will agree that those
symptoms can be associated with allergies
or sensitivities.  But those same experts
argue that many people have no problem
digesting gluten.

Here are a few facts about gluten.

1.  If you are among the 1 percent of people
who suffer from Celiac disease, eating gluten
will cause you stomach pain and or cramps.

2.  Gluten by itself has no nutritional value.  It
is nutritionally useless, it is not something your
body uses.

3. Cutting out gluten means cutting out a lot of
fiber, and micro nutrients.  When going gluten free
you need to examine your diet, make sure you
get all you need.
