Day 1 Of 5 Fresh Fruits And Vegetables
June was National fresh fruit month, with the
month ending, farm markets are open with lots
of fresh produce. The American Heart
Association is encouraging Americans to add
color to their meals. The four key areas, eat smart,
add color, move more, and be healthy.
The AHA recommends four servings of fruit and
five servings of vegetables each day. Fruits and
vegetables come in all colors and forms-fresh, canned,
frozen and dried. They all count towards your daily
servings. Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits and
vegetables is linked to a healthier life, according to
the AHA.
What is a serving? With the recommendations of four
servings of fruit and five of vegetables, it adds up to
about 4 1/2 cups per day. The average person only eats
about 1 1/2 cups daily.
