Here are a few more tips on label reading. I can't
stress enough how important this topic is for people
with Celiac disease.
1. Check the food label each time you purchase a food
because food manufacturers sometimes change ingredients.
2. If you are unsure, call the manufacturer.
3. Rye, oats, and barley will not be listed in a contains
statement because they are not among the top eight
allergens.
4. You can assume natural and artificial flavoring is
gluten free unless wheat, barley, or malt is declared
on the label.
5. Medication labels are not required to declare allergens.
Check with the manufacturer of the product to make sure
a given drug or medication is gluten free.
