About Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is an immune reaction to
ingesting gluten. Gluten is a protein found
in wheat, barley, and rye.
Over time, the immune reaction to eating
gluten creates inflammation that damages
the small intestine's lining, leading to
medical problems. It prevents the absorption
of many nutrients.
The classic symptom is diarrhea, and stomach
aches. Other common symptoms include gas,
bloating, fatigue, anemia and osteoporosis.
There are many that have no symptoms.
The only treatment as of yet, is a strict
gluten free diet.
