Going Gluten Free May Not Be So Good For You

For some individuals, a gluten free diet is
not a choice, it is a necessity.  People with
Celiac disease, have no choice but to avoid
gluten.

Gluten free diets have recently gained
popularity, many believe that avoiding
gluten is healthier for them.  Some say they
feel better and lose weight after cutting back
on gluten and gluten containing products.

However, nutrition experts say these health
benefits could be a result from the foods
people may be eating in place of gluten.
These foods are mostly fruits, vegetables,
and fewer sweets.

Cutting out gluten can be risky when you
do not have a wheat allergy or Celiac. We
see nutritional deficiencies in many.  Like
anything, if  you are going gluten free, you
need to follow up with your doctor, see a
Registered Dietitian and make sure your
 meeting all your needs.
