Celiac disease is a genetic disease. People
who have a relative that has the disease have
a high chance of having it. However, having
the gene does not necessarily mean you will
develop the disease. Some factors such as
infection and stress also increase the risk
of developing the disease. It is worth getting
a blood test, to check for the gene. If you
do not have the gene, you can not get the
disease.
