Hidden Gluten

Now that you are gluten free, you will see
gluten is everywhere.  It hides in places you'd
never expect.  One place is in medications
and supplements.  Most people don't think to
look at their vitamins for gluten.  Gluten is
sometimes used as a bonding agent, therefore
used in many pills and food.  It is important
that you check the ingredient list on everything
you take.  Always double check.

Last Day Of Cross Contamination

Last day of cross contamination.  In
restaurants, you need to watch eating
salad and watch eating from buffets.
Lets start with salad, seems harmless
however most restaurants have a salad
station in the kitchen with croutons.  This
is an easy way to get cross contaminated.
Always let server know you have Celiac.

With a  buffet, you need to watch if
people used the server with gluten foods.
Best bet, be first on line.  With topping at
an ice cream store, always ask for sprinkles
from the back.  There is too many ways to
be glutened, just do your best to be aware.

Day 2 Of Three Of Cross Contamination

Another place for cross contamination is the
stove. This can be in your house or restaurants.
Even if you order an egg, you need to think
of where is it being cooked.  Is it being cooked
on the same stove where toast or pancakes are
being made?  You also need to watch toasters.
If they put a gluten free bun in a toaster where
there is regular toast, there is cross contamination.

Day 1 Of Three Of Cross Contamination

So you have Celiac disease, you think I just
need to eat gluten free foods.  You need to read
labels to look for gluten that is hiding.  Many
newly diagnosed people, do not think of
cross contamination.  Whether in your house,
or restaurant, you need to be aware.

What Is The Difference Between Gluten Intolerance And Celica Disease

Do you feel that eating gluten bothers your
stomach?  So how do you figure out if you
are intolerant or have Celiac?
Celiac disease is a serious immune system
disorder that involves damage to the digestive
system.  The only treatment is a gluten free
diet.
Gluten intolerance can contribute to many
health issues and make you feel lousy.
However unless you have Celiac or
a wheat allergy, it is not life threatening.

Signs of Gluten Intolerance
  • Abdominal pain
  • Constipation
  • Bloating
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Thyroid
  • Nausea
These are just some to name a few.
If no Celiac, eliminate gluten completely.
You must look at all foods, gluten tends
to hide in many places.

Shopping With Celiac Disease

Like I have said before, many items are
naturally gluten free.  Try filling up your
cart with fruits, vegetables, chicken, meat
and fish.  When buying packaged food,
carefully read labels.  Check for gluten, look
for the gluten free sign or symbol.
Strict avoidance of gluten is essential for
those with Celiac disease.  The only
treatment is diet.

What To Avoid

Avoidance is key to good health with
Celiac.  You will need to avoid all
gluten.  Bread, baked goods, crackers,
cereal, pastas and pizza are common
sources of gluten.  You must look for
hidden sources, like soy sauce or
licorice.
There are many foods naturally gluten
free, fruits, vegetables, meat, chicken,
eggs and fish.  There are many gluten free
grains like rice and quinoa.
