Day 1 Of Three Of Cross Contamination

So you have Celiac disease, you think I just
need to eat gluten free foods.  You need to read
labels to look for gluten that is hiding.  Many
newly diagnosed people, do not think of
cross contamination.  Whether in your house,
or restaurant, you need to be aware.

I will start with fryers.  You go out to eat, order
chicken or steak with fries.  Potatoes are gluten
free.  What you will learn is many places share
the fryer with all foods.  What this means is the
breaded fish or chicken is in the same oil as the
French fries.  If this is the case then there could
be gluten on those fries.  You need to ask the
server, if there is a gluten free fryer.  Many
places do have a fryer just for fries.
