Black rice also called forbidden or purple rice, it belongs
to the Oryza sativa L. species.  It gets its black purple
color from a pigment called anthocyanin, which has
potent antioxidant properties.
Here is one of its many benefits.

Compared with other types of rice, black rice is
highest in protein.
Per 3 1/2 ounces, contains 9 grams of protein,
compared with 7 grams for brown rice.
It is a great source of iron.
