Copper

Are you getting enough copper in your diet?
Copper is an essential mineral which is stored
in small amounts in your body.
The role of copper is important.  Copper helps
make energy, connective tissue and blood vessels.
It also helps maintain the nervous and immune
systems.

The amount of copper needed varies.  Adults 19
and older need 900 micrograms per day.  Pregnant
women need 1000 mcg per day, and breast feeding
women need 1300 mcg per day.

The best sources of this mineral include shellfish,
seeds, nuts, organ meats, wheat bran cereals,
whole grain products and chocolate.
