Last Day, Did You Know These Foods Contain Gluten??????

 12.  Potato Chips-  Yes you read that right, yummy crunchy salted

potato chips may contain gluten.  Always read the ingredients and

label.

13.  Pre- seasoned Meat-  Many of those yummy rubs, marinades and

sauces often contain flour or other wheat based ingredients.

14.  Restaurant Eggs-  Eggs may not by the best gluten free option.

Many times they are mixed with pancake batter to make them

fluffier.  There is also a high risk for cross contamination.

15.  Pickles-  While many commercial pickles are certified

gluten free, some are made with malt vinegar, which contains

barley.

So there you have it, some food you may not have ever thought

contained gluten.  Always ask, read and check labels when you

can.

Day 2 of 3 Did You Know That These Food Contain Gluten???????????????

 Foods that surprisingly contain gluten.


7.  Beer- Conventional beer is typically make from malted

barley and hops, sometimes wheat.  Many companies are 

beginning to offer gluten free beer.

8.  Soy Sauce-  Many Asian foods, such as rice, tofu and 

sushi are ideal for a gluten free diet.  However in most

cases soy Sause contain gluten, unless labeled gluten free.

9.  Salad Dressings- A fresh green salad drizzled with olive

oil is a great gluten free meal.  If you prefer creamy dressing

watch for the hidden gluten.  Many contain wheat ingredients.

10.  Condiments-  Yes you got it, condiments are another source

of hidden gluten, it is used as a thickener and or stabilizer in

many yummy condiments.

11.  French Fries-  While naturally gluten free, at many 

restaurants there is cross contamination in the fryer or

during preparation.  Always ask if they have a designated

fryer for fries before ordering.

Day 1 Of 3 Did You Know That These Foods Contain Gluten???????????

 Celiac disease, is an inherited condition that affects nearly 1%

of the population.  Many non celiac individuals also experience

varying degrees of gluten sensitivity.  While some gluten 

containing foods , like bread and pasta are evident and easy to

avoid, others are surprisingly not.

1. Corn Flakes-  while corn is naturally gluten free, most brands

of corn flakes aren't safe.  Most cereals are sweetened with Malt.

2.  Oats- Pure oats are completely safe for those with Celiac disease,

but studies have shown that most oats are processed in facilities with

wheat and barely.  Look for labels that say gluten free on the box.

3.  Ice Cream-  Who doesn't love an ice cream cone?  Ice cream can

be gluten free, but depends on the ingredients.  You need to always 

check the label.

4.  Couscous-  Most couscous looks like rice, but it is made from

semolina, a type of wheat.

5.  Meat Substitutes-  Faux meat options aren't just for vegans anymore!

Many of these products are gluten free, however some contains gluten.

6.  Deli Meats- Fresh, unseasoned meat is naturally gluten free.  

However some meats add starches in their seasoning.  Certified gluten

free is always good to look for.
